The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team opened up GLVC play with a shutout victory over McKendree. The Prairie Stars won six of the seven completed matches for the win.
 
UIS opened the match by winning the doubles point. The duo of Piper Schrepferman and Riann Hsu shutout their No. 3 opponent, and the No. 2 pairing of Franca Bucco and Carmen Llopis Fabra clinch the point.
 
UIS then ended the match by winning the top four singles matches, all in straight sets. The winners included Sina Skjelstad, Fabra, Hsu, and Bucco. The other two singles matches were not completed.
 
The Prairie Stars are now 6-6 on the year. UIS will be in action again next weekend at home against Lewis and Indianapolis.
