Baseball's Home Streak Reaches 22 Wins After Sweeping Lewis

The University of Illinois Springfield baseball program completed a four-game sweep over Lewis on Saturday at the UIS Baseball Field with an 8-4 victory over the Flyers. The win was the 22nd straight victory for the Prairie Stars at home, and the 11th consecutive win overall.

In all four games against Lewis, the Prairie Stars trailed at one point, but fought back for the win. In the finale, UIS was down 2-0 after two innings, but took the lead after a six-run fifth inning. Zion Pettigrew had a three-run homer to put UIS over the top in that frame.

For the game, Asher Bradd had three hits, two runs, and one RBI. Pettigrew also scored twice, and Brandon Bannon had a pair of hits, one run, and one RBI. UIS batters continued to show patience against Lewis pitching, drawing nine walks on the day and 29 over the last three games.

Seth Masters earned the win on the mound. He entered the game in the second inning and only allowing three hits and one walk in his outing. He struck out five in four innings of work.

UIS improves to 29-6 overall and 9-3 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars start an eight-game homestand next weekend with a series at Missouri S&T.
