The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team claimed a big victory on Friday in Evansville, Ind. The Prairie Stars defeated Southern Indiana by a 5-2 margin.
 
UIS opened the day with a pair of doubles victories, both by 6-2 score. Franca Bucco and Carmen Llopis Fabra won the No. 2 position, and the No. 3 position saw Riann Hsu and Piper Schrepferman earn the victory.
 
The Prairie Stars quickly won the match after winning the first three singles matches that were completed. Fabra shutout her opponent at No. 3, Bucco dropped just one game at No. 4, and Schrepferman lost just three games at No. 5. The other winner was Hsu who survived a second set tiebreaker to win in straight sets.
 
The Prairie Stars are now 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in GLVC play. UIS ends its regular season next week at home against Maryville and Lindenwood.
