The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team will look to make a late season run for a GLVC Tournament bid starting this Friday with a match at Southern Indiana.

The Prairie Stars are currently 0-3 in GLVC play, including losses against Indianapolis and Lewis last weekend. UIS is now 6-8 overall on the year. UIS fell to nationally-ranked Indianapolis by a 4-0 margin, before dropping a close match to Lewis by a 4-3 score.

In dual play this season, UIS is 42-39 in singles. The Prairie Stars have won over 60 percent of their matches at No. 1 and No. 6 singles. The team is 20-19 in doubles action during duals, but they have lost the doubles point in three straight contests.

Menno Servaes leads the team with 18 singles victories this year, including a 9-4 record in dual play. Servaes is also part of the top doubles team at UIS, as he has teamed up with
Sebastian Jonsson to go 8-5 in duals this year.

Southern Indiana will come into Friday's match with a 9-6 overall record, and a 0-2 GLVC mark. The team's conference losses have been by a 4-2 score at Maryville and a 5-2 decision at Lindenwood.

The Screaming Eagles have struggled at the upper spots in the lineup, but quickly improve as they move down the lineup. In singles, they have won 66.1 percent of their matches at No. 3 through No. 6. In doubles, Southern Indiana has won 73.3 percent of the matches at No. 2 and No. 3.

Lucas Sakamaki leads the team with 13 victories, including a 12-3 duals mark. He primarily plays at the No. 4 spot. The duos of Marvin Kromer/Sakamaki and Yahor Bahdanovich/Quinten Gillespie are both 9-3 in duals this year at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.

Last season, UIS defeated Southern Indiana by a 5-2 margin. The Prairie Stars won all three doubles matches, and each of the top four singles contests.
