The University of Illinois Springfield softball team won twice in its final at-bat on Saturday in Chatham, Ill. The Prairie Stars used the late heroics for a doubleheader sweep over Hillsdale.

In game one, the Prairie Stars won by a 6-3 margin. The two teams were tied 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth, when UIS broke out with four runs.
Danielle Dennis had a RBI double that put the team ahead, and
Jillian Mathis capped off the frame with a two-run single.

Hillsdale scored once and loaded the bases in the top of the seventh. UIS forced two straight popouts to end the game.

Payton Long threw a complete game on the mound. She stranded 10 bases runners in the contest. Offensively, Dennis had three hits, two runs, and a RBI.
Ella Brinkley had two hits, and
Carly Chovanec scored twice.

In the second game, UIS had a walkoff win by a 4-3 margin. With the score twice in the bottom of the seventh, Hillsdale retired the first two UIS batters. Brinkley singled to start a rally, and
Emma Garcia then doubled over the right fielder to scored Brinkley with the game-winner.

Brinkley and Carolyn both had two hits in the game. Brinkley had one run and one RBI, and Franke scored twice.
Reagan Miles threw a complete game for the victory on the mound.

UIS ends the Springfield Classic on Sunday with a noon doubleheader against Ohio Dominican.
