Women's Tennis Travels To McKendree For GLVC Opening Weekend

The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team is away for its first GLVC contest of 2022 against McKendree. The match will start at 11:00 a.m. at the McKendree Tennis Courts in Lebanon, Ill.
 
UIS starts GLVC play with a 5-6 overall record. The Prairie Stars went 1-1 last weekend, including a win over Quincy in their most recent match on Sunday.
 
UIS has improved doubles play with Riann Hsu and Piper Schrepferman holding a winning record of 6-4, and they were able to win an important doubles point against Quincy this weekend. In singles, Hsu is now 7-3 in the season and Kamila Kalinowska has a positive record of 6-3. Other important players include Franca Bucco with seven singles wins, and Carmen Llopis Fabra with six.
 
Prior to playing last week, the Prairie Stars had some impressive results beating teams like Lincoln Memorial, and coming very close against Lander and Augusta.

All-Time Series (NCAA Era): UIS leads 6-4

McKendree enters play this week with a 4-5 record. This past weekend, the Bearcats were defeated by Rockhurst University and nationally-ranked Harding.
 
UIS is trying to beat McKendree for the sixth time in a row, and start GLVC play with a victory. Last year, the result was 5-2 for the Prairie Stars.
