The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team edged out Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Ill. The Prairie Stars defeated the Huskies by a 4-3 margin.

The two teams were tied at two, but UIS clinched the victory with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Franca Bucco won the No. 4 match by scores of 6-3 and 6-3, while
Riann Hsu was victorious at No. 5 by a 6-1 and 6-0 margin.

Early in the match, Michigan Tech won the doubles point after winning the top two matches. UIS won No. 3 as
Piper Schrepferman and Hsu had a 6-4 victory. UIS's other singles point came in a forfeit at No. 6, and a win by
Carmen Llopis Fabra at the No. 2 position.
UIS improves to 3-0 on the year. The Prairie Stars will be back in action on Sunday against Tiffin.
