The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team fell on Senior Day to Rockhurst. The Hawks defeated the Prairie Stars by a 60-53 margin.
UIS struggled from the field, especially in the first 20 minutes, which allowed Rockhurst to jump out to a 33-21 halftime advantage. The Prairie Stars started connecting late in the game, and pulled within five with three minutes left. The Hawks responded though with back-to-back three-pointers to put the contest away.
Rockhurst shot 40.7 percent for the game, and made seven three-pointers. UIS hit just 28.1 percent from the field, and made three shots from behind the arc. The Prairie Stars had four fewer turnovers, but Rockhurst had nine more rebounds.
Lauren Ladowski led the Senior Class with 21 points and she recorded six steals.
Olivia Travis had six points and
Ellie Mitchell recorded four, and both led the team with six rebounds.
Carson Vance dished out a pair of assists and had three rebounds.
Ally Gietzel finished with five points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Among the non-starters,
Malea Jackson had a team-high +8 plus/minus in the game. She and
Liz Uhl both had five points off the bench.
UIS falls to 15-9 overall and 10-8 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars end their regular season next week with games at Missouri S&T and Drury.
