The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team could not slow down Lindenwood's top-two players on Thursday night in St. Charles, Mo. That led to the Prairie Stars falling to the Lions by an 82-71 score.

Lindenwood's duo combined for 53 points and 26 rebounds on the night, and shot nearly 60 percent from the field. UIS kept up with the pair for three quarters, but they proved to be too much after 40 minutes. UIS and Lindenwood were tied at 38 at halftime, and the Lions had a narrow 57-54 lead after three quarters. The Lions scored the first seven points though in the final period to pull away for good.

UIS shot 37.5 percent from the field, comparted to 57.7 percent for Lindenwood. Lindenwood also had seven more rebounds and outscored UIS 52-38 in points in the paint. The Prairie Stars had single-digit turnovers, while forcing 17 on the night.

Lauren Ladowski and
Malea Jackson also had big night. Ladowski scored 23 points, while Jackson had 18.
Olivia Travis had a team-high three assists,
Ellie Mitchell led the squad with six rebounds, and Jackson had a team-best four steals.

UIS falls to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are back in action on Saturday at TRAC when they welcome Missouri-St. Louis to town.
