The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team earned its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars defeated Tiffin by a 2-1 margin.

UIS played ahead for most of the game, after it scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute.
Madison Grandys put the ball in the net with an assist from
Claire Sever. That was the only goal in the first half, a period in which the Prairie Stars outshot Tiffin by a 10-4 margin.

In the second half, the Prairie Stars added an insurance goal in the 77th minute. Angela Dangino scored on a shot from 20 yards out. That goal proved to be the game-winner as Tiffin scored five minutes later to get within one, but the Prairie Stars defense finished off the victory.
Allison Mirimanian earned her first collegiate victory in goal, making four saves on the day.

UIS improves to 1-0-1 on the season. The Prairie Stars will travel to Parkside on Tuesday for a 12 p.m. contest.
