The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team has a challenging week of games, but will be helped with both contests taking place at home in Kiwanis Stadium. The Prairie Stars host Lewis in a Homecoming game on Friday night, followed by taking on the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II, Indianapolis, on Sunday afternoon.

UIS enters play this week with a 5-3-0 overall record, and a 4-1-0 conference mark. The team is tied for third in the GLVC with 2.40 points per game. Last week, UIS won a big road game at Southern Indiana by a 2-1 margin, but fell in Lebanon, Ill. to McKendree by a 1-0 score.

The games this weekend will feature some of the top offenses in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars are currently averaging 1.62 goals a game. Defensively, the program has a 1.21 GAA, the fourth-best mark in the league

Lars Brinkman leads the team with four goals and eight points. He has scored the game-winning goal in two of the team's four GLVC wins.
Browel Some has a team-high four assists, and is second with six points.

Pijus Petkevicius has a 1.22 GAA on the season, and a .737 save percentage. He has allowed just three goals in five conference games.

Indianapolis is unbeaten on the season, and it is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II national poll. The Greyhounds opened up the year with five straight wins, before tying Lewis last weekend by a 1-1 margin.

Indianapolis is in the top-25 nationally in both offense and defense. The Greyhounds lead the GLVC with a 0.80 GAA, and are second in the league with 2.67 goals a game.

Alejandro Steinwascher and Dylan Bollard both have four goals and two game-winning goals on the year. Michael Tselios has a team-high four assists, one more than Steinwascher.

Dimitrios Karousos has played every minute in goal, and has a 0.80 GAA and a .773 save percentage. He has three shutouts on the year.

In the last eight games between UIS and Indianapolis, each have been decided by one goal or a tie. Last season, the two teams played a scoreless game in the regular season, and Indianapolis won 1-0 in the first round of the GLVC Tournament.
