The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team played even with the preseason GLVC favorite for the majority of the game on Sunday in Lebanon, Ill. McKendree capitalized on an early and late goal though and defeated the Prairie Stars by a 2-1 margin.

McKendree grabbed the lead right away in the game after scoring in just the second minute. It was able to hold on to that 1-0 advantage until the 73rd minute when UIS tied the game.
Ally Lassetter scored for the Prairie Stars, with an assist from
Allison Hackett.

The game remained knotted until less than four minutes remaining in the game. McKendree was able to score the game-winner in the 87th minute, and then was able to run off the final 3:29 without allowing another shot.

McKendree had a 12-6 advantage on shots, including a 9-2 lead on shots on goal. McKendree also doubled up UIS on corner kicks by a 6-3 margin.

Allison Mirimanian made seven saves in goal for UIS.
Angela Dagnino had two shots for UIS, and joined
Claire Sokol and
Maggie Joos as the only players to play all 90 minutes in the field.

UIS falls to 5-2-1 on the season and 3-2-0 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars return home next Friday for a 5 p.m. game against Lewis.
