The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team accomplished its best GLVC start after defeating Southern Indiana on Friday night in Evansville, Ind. The Prairie Stars moved to 4-0-0 in conference play with a 2-1 win over the Screaming Eagles.

A pair of throw-ins in the second half were the difference in the game. UIS trailed 1-0 at halftime, but tied the game in the 52nd minute.
Evan Paoni threw a long throw-in into the box, and it was headed three straight times. The final time was from
Drew Keller who put it in the goal, and
Browel Some earned the assist on the score.

Sixteen minutes later, Some threw a throw-in over two Screaming Eagles players and found
Lars Brinkman just outside the goal. Brinkman snuck a shot past the goalie for the game-winning goal.

The game was balanced, with both teams having 10 shots, and UIS having a narrow 52-48 edge in possession time. UIS had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal, and Southern Indiana had two of the game's three corner kicks.

Pijus Petkevicius had two saves in goal.
Conal Gallagher had a team-high four shots.
Morgan Ratcliffe and
Marvin Zott both played all 90 minutes.

UIS is now 5-2-0 on the season, and it is one of two teams with 12 points through the first four games of the conference season. The Prairie Stars are in action again on Sunday at McKendree.
