The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team is one of four GLVC programs without a loss through the first three games of the conference season. The Prairie Stars will put that record on the line this week with road games at Southern Indiana and McKendree.

UIS has outscored its first three GLVC foes by a 5-1 margin, and it has started 3-0-0 in conference play for just the second time since joining the league. Last week, the Prairie Stars earned a 2-1 victory over Missouri-St. Louis, and a 2-0 win over Lindenwood.

The UIS offense ranks fifth in the league by averaging 1.83 goals a game, and it is second with 14.8 shots a contest. Defensively, the team is fourth with a 1.29 GAA, including a league-best 0.33 GAA in conference-only games.

Pijus Petkevicius was named the GLVC Defense Player of the Week on Monday after leading UIS to its two wins last week. The fourth-year starter has a 1.29 GAA and a .742 save percentage on the year. His shutout over Lindenwood was the 20
th of his career.

Lars Brinkman leads the team with three goals, followed by
Conal Gallagher with two, both of them game-winners.
Browel Some and
Rory Carlson each had one goal and team-high two assists.

Southern Indiana is currently 1-3-0 on the season, including a 0-2-0 mark in GLVC play. Last week, the Screaming Eagles lost to Indianapolis by a 3-0 margin.

Southern Indiana has scored four goals on the season, all of them in a win over Davenport. Zach Schoenstein had the game-winning goal in overtime in that game, and also recorded an assist.

Defensively, the team has given up nine goals in four games. Justin Faas has a 2.29 GAA and a .727 save percentage on the year.

Southern Indiana has won the last six meeting against the Prairie Stars. Four of those victories, including the last three, have been by shutouts. Last season, The Screaming Eagles won 1-0 with the game's only goal in the 29
th minute.

McKendree opens play this week with a 1-2-2 overall record, and a 1-2-0 conference mark. The Bearcats, who play Quincy on Friday night, have defeated Southern Indiana in GLVC action, but fallen to Lewis and Indianapolis.

McKendree has scored seven goals on the season, and it has not been shutout yet on the year. James Stone has four of the team's seven goals, and has a goal in four straight games entering this weekend. Philipp Schmidt leads the squad with two assists.

Alvaro Cortazar has played every minute in goal for the team. He has a 1.77 GAA and a .722 save percentage. The Bearcats have allowed 10 goals, and are allowing 16 shots a game.

UIS and McKendree will be meeting for the 52
nd time, the longest rivalry for the Prairie Stars. The Bearcats have the edge lately, with UIS being 0-2-1 over the last three years. The Prairie Stars have not scored in that stretch, including in a 0-0 scoreless tie last spring.
