The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team took No. 22 Rockhurst to a fifth set on Saturday in Kansas City, Mo. The Prairie Stars fell just short of an upset victory though as it fell by scores of 25-21, 19-25, 24-26, 25-16, and 15-9.

UIS took a 2-1 lead in the match thanks to its offense which hit .337 in the second and third sets. Rockhurst was able to cool down the Prairie Stars in the fourth set, and the Prairie Stars couldn't recover in the fifth set. The two teams were tied at six in the final game, but a 6-0 run by Rockhurst clinched the victory for the home squad.

UIS hit .175 for the match, compared to .286 for Rockhurst. The Hawks had just one more kill, but collected five more blocks and 14 fewer attack errors in the contest.
The Prairie Stars had a balanced offense, with five players in double-figure kills.
Brianna Bush led the way with 16, and she had a .538 hitting percentage.
Megan Krasowski had 12 kills,
Hannah Nicolaisen had 11, and
Ryleigh Warfel and
Emma Konie had 10 kills apiece.

Becca Blakeley had 50 assists for the match, and also led the team with two service aces. Defensively, Bush had six blocks, and
Amanda McConnell recorded 21 digs. Konie and Krasowski both had kill/dig double-doubles.

UIS falls to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars return home for four straight matches, starting with Friday's 7:00 p.m. match against Indianapolis.
