The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team picked up its first GLVC victory of the season with a 3-1 division win over Indianapolis. The Prairie Stars won by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-21, and 25-22.

UIS tied the match at one set apiece after breaking a 23-23 tie late in the second game. An Indianapolis error gave UIS set point, and
Ryleigh Warfel recorded a kill after that.

The Prairie Stars jumped out to a 17-11 lead in the third set, and then held on late for that win. Indianapolis got within 21-20, before UIS scored four of the final five points.
Angela Denney had two kills in that span, and
Hannah Nicolaisen and
Becca Blakeley had a big block.

In the final set, the Greyhounds jumped out to a 16-11 lead. UIS got closer, and then finished the match on a 9-3 spurt.
Brianna Bush recorded a solo block on the first match point to close out the contest.

UIS hit .187 for the match, compared to Indianapolis who hit .130. The Prairie Stars had four more blocks, and Indianapolis committed six more hitting errors in the close match which had 24 ties and 13 lead changes throughout the four sets.

Warfel finished with a team-high 18 kills and 20.5 points, and completed a double-double with 11 digs.
Brianna Bush collected 12 kills, and hit .500. She also had a team-high seven blocks.
Angela Denney had a double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs.
Becca Blakeley recorded 50 assists and 12 digs, and
Amanda McConnell had a team-high 26 digs.

UIS moves to 3-8 on the season and 1-2 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars are back at TRAC on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game against McKendree.
