The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team picked up one of its biggest victories in its NCAA era last Sunday with a 1-0 win over No. 6 Maryville. The Prairie Stars will look to carry momentum over from that victory in two GLVC games this week. UIS faces Missouri-St. Louis at Lee Field in Springfield on Thursday, followed by a Sunday road game at Lindenwood.

UIS enters play this week with a 2-2-0 overall record, and a 1-0-0 GLVC mark. The Prairie Stars are looking for two wins so they can start 3-0-0 in GLVC play for just the second time.

UIS is currently fourth in the GLVC with 1.75 goals a game. It is also in the upper half of the league in Goals Against Average with a 1.66 mark.

Lars Brinkman leads the team with two goals, and
Rory Carlson is the leader with two assists.
Conal Gallagher has one goal and one assist, including the game's only goal in the team's 1-0 win over Maryville.

Pijus Petkevicius leads the defense in goal as he has a 1.66 GAA and a .731 save percentage.

The UIS/Lindenwood rivalry goes back to 1978, and UIS leads the series 9-7-2. Since the Lions joined the GLVC, UIS is 1-0-1 in the series, including a 1-0 win in Springfield last year.
