The University of Illinois Springfield cross country teams both won the Sixth Annual Prairie Star Invitational on Friday at the UIS Cross Country Course.
Gloria Esarco and
Blake Jones both won individual titles for the Prairie Stars.

The women's team scored 25 points in the competition, finishing 26 points ahead of runner-up Greenville.

Gloria Esarco set a new UIS Course record for the 5,000m distance by finishing with a time of 18:22. She was one minute, 31 seconds ahead of the second-place runner who was teammate
Jordan Serrahn.

Jade Anderson was fifth with a time of 20:25. Next came the duo of
Morgan Suttles and
Emma West who were 10th and 11th respectively, in just over 21 minutes. Lexi throne was 12th overall with a mark of 21:27. Rounding out the squad was
Libby Price in 18th with a time of 22:17.

On the men's side, UIS had 10 out of the first 12 finishers, and it had a perfect 15 score. Greenville was also second in that race with 52 points.

A group of five Prairie Stars finished the race at the same time, with Jones leading the group with a time of 22:26. The other runners in that pack were
Wyatt McIntyre,
Chris Cherry,
Cort Ross, and
Gabe Martinez.

Ryan Jones came in 7th with a time of 22:39. He was followed closely behind in the next minute by
Trevor Dunkel,
Layne Hill,
Ryan Stark, and
Spencer Mauch. Other runners were
Isiah McCune in 18th and
Ryan Ames in 42nd.

UIS will be in action again next Friday at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.
