University of Illinois Springfield baseball player
Austin Alderman was named the GLVC Player of the Week on Monday. It is the first career player of the Week for Alderman, and the first for a UIS hitter since
Zach Speaker won the award in 2019.
Â
Alderman hit .615 during the four-game series against Drury last weekend. He had a .750 on-base percentage and 1.308 slugging percentage. Alderman was eight-for-13 with three doubles and two homers. He led the Prairie Stars with 10 RBI, and he scored six times. Alderman scored at least one run and one RBI.
Â
In the closest game of the series, Alderman finished just a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Over the last four innings, Alderman went three-for-three with two runs and four RBI, which helped turn a 1-0 UIS lead into a comfortable 7-1 victory.
Â
Alderman and the UIS baseball team will be back in action later this week with a four-game series at Southwest Baptist.
