The University of Illinois Springfield outdoor track and field program continued its 2021 season on Saturday at the ONU Tiger Open.
 
UIS had its best success in the 800m. Gloria Esarco won the women's race in a time of 2:17.98, a victory by over two seconds. In third place in that race was teammate Libby Price in a time of 2:22.15. On the men's side, Cayden Kirkham finished fourth. He recorded a time of 2:01.68.
 
Ellie Shonkwiler finished seventh in the women's javelin. She threw for a mark of 23.68m. The final top-ten finish was from Jake Schwartz who accomplished that in the 1,500m with a finish in 4:04.52.
 
UIS is scheduled to be at a series of events next week, including the Dick Cochran Classic in St. Charles, Mo.
