Men's Tennis Captures Important Conference Match Against Southern Indiana

The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team picked up an important GLVC victory on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Southern Indiana. Both programs entered the match regionally ranked in the latest ITA poll.

The match was the final home one for the Prairie Stars this year, and Alex Chan was honored as the team's lone senior. He picked up a win at No. 3 doubles with Oscar Toro, as the pair won in a tiebreaker.

UIS swept the doubles as Matthew Lapsley and Nick Revin won at No. 1, and Tomas Martinez and Menno Servaes captured the No. 2 position.

In singles, UIS won the top four positions. Martinez was victorious at No. 1, Servaes won at No. 2, Revin survived a third set at No. 3, and Rafa Rojas won the No. 4 spot.

UIS improves to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars end the regular season next week at Lindenwood and Maryville.
