Carol Quevedo Leads Women's Tennis To Senior Day Win

The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis program won on Senior Day in Chatham, Ill. The Prairie Stars defeated Southern Indiana by a 5-2 margin.

Carol Quevedo was the program's lone senior, and she had a big day for the Prairie Stars. She and Franca Bucco won their No. 1 doubles match by a 6-4 score. Quevedo then sealed the victory with a 6-2 and 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

Her two victories were one of six for UIS, as it only lost the three matches that it lost by default. Neha Mokhasi and Sina Skjelstad won the No. 2 doubles by a 6-3 margin. Skejelstad won her No. 2 singles match in three sets. Mokhasi and Bucco both won singles contests in straight sets, including a 6-0 and 6-0 win for Bucco.

UIS improves to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are in action again next week at Lindenwood and Maryville.
