The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team collected a season-high four goals on Friday, and the Prairie Stars upset No. 12 Maryville by a 4-1 margin.

Maryville outshot UIS by a 17-9 margin in the game, including an 8-6 mark in shots on goal. UIS made five more saves though, and took advantage of its offensive opportunities.

The first opportunity came right from the start when
Lars Brinkman scored just 18 seconds into the game. The Prairie Stars added another first half goal in the 20th minute with a strike by
Mario Gonzalez.

After half, UIS added another quick goal by scoring less than three minutes into the period.
Marvin Zott recorded that goal, with an assist from
Conal Gallagher. Maryville got one goal back in the 66th minute, but Gallagher added an insurance score in the 79th minute.

Pijus Petkevicius made seven saves in goal. He finished the regular season with a 0.55 GAA and an .875 save percentage.

UIS improves to 4-3-3 on the year. The Prairie Stars will find out later this evening if it makes the GLVC Tournament field.
