Men's Soccer Looks To Keep GLVC Tournament Hopes Alive Versus Maryville

4/15/2021 9:36:00 AM

The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team ends its regular season this week with a Friday contest at Maryville.

UIS comes into Friday's contest with a 3-3-3 overall and GLVC record. The Prairie Stars are currently ninth in the conference standings. UIS will likely need a victory plus some help around the league to make the conference tournament field.

Last week, the Prairie Stars went 1-1-0 on the pitch. UIS defeated Drury by a 1-0 score on Friday, before falling to Missouri S&T by that same score on Sunday.

UIS enters this week with a 0.51 GAA, an improvement of 0.72 over the previous season. It will be the program's best defense in its NCAA era. Goalie Pijus Petkevicius is second in the league with a 0.51 GAA, and first with a .872 save percentage.

Each individual GLVC school will determine their own attendance policy for men's soccer. Please check the policies of the home teams if interested in attending a contest. (Maryville)
