The University of Illinois Springfield softball team dropped both ends of its home-opening doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at LOLJOS. The Prairie Stars lost to No. 16 Winona State by scores of 12-3 and 13-1.

Both games were close after three innings, but the Warriors scored a combined 19 runs in the fourth and fifth innings of the two games.

Carly Chovanec was the top player on the day for UIS. She was two-for-four in the two games with a doubles, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Danielle Dennis had a run and RBI,
Lindsay LaDere scored once, and
Kayana Diederich and
Emma Garcia each had one RBI.

UIS falls to 5-11 on the season. The Prairie Stars start GLVC play on Friday at home against Lindenwood.
