The University of Illinois Springfield softball program dropped both ends of its first GLVC doubleheader on Friday afternoon in Spartan Park in Chatham, Ill. The Prairie Stars lost to Lindenwood by scores of 8-5 and 17-4.
 
Lindenwood had 28 hits on the day, including seven extra-base hits. The Lions had three big innings of five or more runs, which was the difference in both games.
 
Jillian Mathis was four-of-four on the day, including a double. Calla Wickenhauser drove in three runners, and Natalie Cokel and Carolyn Franke both scored twice. Wickenhauser, Grace Harris, and Kelsie Burrows all had doubles.
 
UIS falls to 5-13 on the season. The Prairie Stars continue conference play on Sunday with two games at Missouri-St. Louis.
