Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight Without Losing A Contested Match

The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team continued its winning streak on Sunday with a 5-1 win over Michigan Tech. The Prairie Stars have still not lost a match that has been contested yet this season.

UIS swept the two doubles matches that were played on the day. Sina Skjelstad and Neha Mokhasi were 6-3 winners at No. 1 singles. Franca Bucco and Carol Quevedo won the No. 2 position by a 6-1 margin.

In singles, Quevedo at No. 1, Skjelstad at No. 2, and Bucco at No. 3 were all straight set winners. Skjelstad lost just two games in her match, and Quevedo and Bucco only lost five games apiece. The closest match on the day was at No. 4 where Mokhasi lost her first set, but bounced back to win the final two by 6-3 and 6-1 scores.

UIS is now 3-0 on the year. The Prairie Stars host Missouri-St. Louis next on Friday.
