The University of Illinois Springfield softball team ended the Five-States Classic on Sunday with a 5-3 loss to Missouri Southern. Despite the setback, the Prairie Stars still had their best weekend of the season with a 4-1 mark.
Â
Both teams had nine hits in the game, but a couple of UIS errors led to three unearned runs for the Lions, which was the difference.
Â
Calla Wickenhauser and
Carly Chovanec each had a pair of hits to lead UIS.
Reagan Miles drove in two, and Chovanec had a run and a RBI.
Â
UIS ends the weekend with a 5-9 record. The Prairie Stars end non-conference play on Tuesday with their home opener at 2 p.m. against nationally-ranked Winona State.
