Baseball Completes Weekend Sweep Over Hillsdale

The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team completed a series sweep over Hillsdale on Sunday at the UIS Baseball Field. The Prairie Stars won by an 11-4 margin.
 
UIS trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, but scored 11 times over its next two at-bats. Bobby Barnard capped that stretch with a grand slam that put the game out of reach. Barnard finished the day with two hits, along with his one run and four RBI.
 
Chris Monroe had a pair of hits and scored twice. Zion Pettigrew, Austin Alderman, and Nick Mayerhofer all crossed home plate twice, and Kal Youngquist had two RBI. Youngquist and Alderman both had a double in the game.
 
On the mound, AJ Golembiewski went four innings for the win. Cameron Zunkel went two, and Tyler Horvath got five outs. Clarke Davenport then closed out the game by stranding two runners in the eighth, and getting the final three outs in the ninth.
 
UIS starts GLVC play next weekend with a four-game set against Southern Indiana
