The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team continued its weekend series with Hillsdale on Saturday at the UIS Baseball Field. The Prairie Stars improved to 3-0 on the year after sweeping the day's doubleheader.

UIS outscored its visitors by a 26-4 margin in the two games. The Prairie Stars had 30 hits, including 16 for extra bases. The pitching staff allowed just 11 hits in 16 innings, and it struck out 19 batters.

The Prairie Stars won the opener by a 13-0 margin.
Chad Saner went five innings and allowed just two hits and no walks. He struck out six. The shutout was completed by one inning apiece from
Luke Fitton,
Tyler Horvath,
Cameron Zunkel, and
Ian Delleman.

Offensively,
Nick Mayerhofer had three hits, two runs, and two RBI. He had a double and home run among his hits.
Kal Youngquist had a double and triple, and finished with a team-high three RBI.
Brandon Bannon,
Zion Pettigrew,
Chris Monroe also scored twice.
Asher Bradd and Pettigrew had two RBI apiece.

In game two, UIS hit four home runs on the way to a 13-4 victory.
Zion Pettigrew went deep twice and finished with three hits, five RBI, and three runs.
Chris Mathieu had a homer and double and finished with three RBI. The other homer came from
Kal Youngquist, who crossed home three times in the second game. Bannon and
Austin Alderman each scored two times.

Colton Hale was the winner in game two after throwing three innings and allowed three hits and one run.
Clarke Davenport and
Evan Snyder both threw a scoreless inning in relief.
