The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team took one of the preseason GLVC favorites to double overtime on Friday at Kiwanis Stadium. McKendree was able to score in the second overtime to escape with a 1-0 win over the Prairie Stars.

The game was even thoughout. McKendree had a 13-11 edge in shots and a 6-4 corner kick advantage. UIS led 4-3 in shots on goal.

UIS nearly won in regulation when
Sierra Cenek took a shot with less than a minute left. It hit the crossbar and then bounced nearly the goal line before the McKendree keeper could corral it.

Early in the second overtime, the Bearcats earned a corner kick, and it was able to head in the golden goal.

UIS falls to 1-2 on the season. The Prairie Stars host Southern Indiana on Sunday at 12 p.m.
