Men's Soccer Looks To Continue Shutout Streak Versus McKendree and Southern Indiana

The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team will be home twice this week at Kiwanis Stadium. The Prairie Stars host McKendree on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. Sunday contest against Southern Indiana.
 
UIS has not allowed a goal yet this year in 200 minutes of action. The Prairie Stars defeated Lindenwood by a 1-0 score in the season opener, before tying Missouri-St. Louis on the road on Sunday.
 
Pijus Petkevicius made five saves while earning his two shutouts last weekend in goal. Brian Riordan had the team's goal, with an assist from Armando Rosiles.
 
Each individual GLVC school will determine their own attendance policy for men's soccer. Please check the policies of the home teams if interested in attending a contest.

McKendree is 1-1-0 after its first weekend of the regular season. The Bearcats fell to Indianapolis by a 1-0 margin, before bouncing back with a 2-0 win over Lewis.
 
James Stone assisted on both goals for McKendree, with Raul Artega and Eddie Davis having the scores. Alvaro Cortazar has a 0.50 GAA and a .889 save percentage in two starts.
 
Last season in Lebanon, Ill., McKendree won by a 1-0 score, despite UIS having a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.

Southern Indiana lost its season opener last week at home against Indianapolis by a 2-1 score. The Greyhounds outshot the Screaming Eagles by a 12-6 margin, including a 5-1 mark in shots on goal.
 
Zach Barton scored an unassisted goal for the Screaming Eagles in the Indianapolis contest. Justin Faas was in goal for Southern Indiana in the game.
 
Southern Indiana defeated UIS last season in Evansville, Ind. by a 3-0 margin. All three goals came in a two-minute span early in the first half.
 
Up Next
UIS will hit the road on March 12 and March 14 for a pair of games. The Prairie Stars will be at Indianapolis on that Friday, and at Lewis in the Sunday contest.
