Women's Soccer Heads West For Two GLVC Games

The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team is on the road this week for two GLVC games. The Prairie Stars are at Rockhurst on Thursday, followed by a Saturday game at Southwest Baptist.
 
UIS enters play this week with a 1-6-0 record. The Prairie Stars are looking to snap a five-game losing streak, including a 3-0 loss to Quincy last time out.
 
The Prairie Stars have been strong defensively in the second half of game this year. UIS has given up just two goals in the second half, and have outshot opponents 34-27 in that period.
 
Amanda Finnell has been in goal for every minute this season. She has a 1.11 GAA and a .692 save percentage. Her GAA mark would be the third-best in program history if she maintains it throughout the season.

Rockhurst is currently 4-3-3 on the season, and it is tied for fifth in the GLVC standings with 15 points. The Hawks are just 1-3-2 over their last six games, and have scored just two goals in that span.
 
Rockhurst enters the week with 1.30 goals per game, which ranks fourth in the conference. It is also second with 17 assists on the year. The Hawks are fifth in the league with a 0.74 GAA, and third with 4.80 saves a game.
 
McKenna Leetch is sixth in the GLVC with three goals, and Greta Seal is in the top-10 with three assists. Megan Meyers is sixth among goalies with a 0.49 GAA, and fifth with a .875 save percentage.
 
Last season in Kansas City, Rockhurst defeated UIS by a 3-0 score.

Southwest Baptist, which plays Lewis on Thursday, is currently in the GLVC basement with a 0-8-1 mark. After tying Rockhurst in the season opener, the Bearcats have lost eight straight.
 
Southwest Baptist is averaging 0.33 goals per game this season, and it has allowed 2.89 a contest. The team has the second-most saves in the league on the year with 6.33 a game.
 
Lexi Lanzafame leads the Bearcats' offense with two goals. Ashlyn Gibbs has been the team's top goalie with 34 saves, a .687 save percentage, and a 1.70 GAA.
 
UIS and Southwest Baptist have met just one before. The Prairie Stars earned a 2-1 win in that game which was held in Springfield in 2019.

UIS will take on Drury on April 9 in a neutral site game in Collinsville, Ill. The Prairie Stars will then face Missouri S&T on April 11 in Springfield at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.
