The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team put together an all-around strong performance on Saturday in Kirksville, Mo. during a doubleheader sweep over Truman State. The Prairie Stars won the GLVC games by scores of 10-0 and 20-1.

Offensively, UIS had 22 hits in the two games and had a .506 on-base percentage after drawing 21 walks. On the mound, UIS allowed just one run and six hits in 14 innings, and the Prairie Stars struck out 23 batters.

Chris Mathieu had four hits on the day and had four runs and six RBI.
Austin Alderman had three hits and also scored four times.
Chris Monroe had one hit and five walks, and crossed the plate five times.
Nick Mayerhofer and
Zion Pettigrew had solo homers, and combined for seven runs.
Brandon Bannon had three RBI, and
Asher Bradd, Alderman,
Kal Youngquist, and Monroe all had multiple RBI.

On the mound,
Colton Hale threw a complete game shutout in the first game. In seven innings, he allowed just four hits. He struck out 13 and had just one walk.
Clarke Davenport earned the win in game two, throwing five innings and allowing just two hits and one run. He struck out seven batters.
Mason Coon and
Eddie Wilkins each pitched one scoreless inning of relief.

UIS improves to 13-2 overall and 9-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will go for a four-game sweep over Truman State on Sunday.
