The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team had a walk-off loss in game two of its Lewis series on Saturday afternoon in Romeoville, Ill. Game two was suspended due to darkness with the Prairie Stars leading 9-3 after five innings.

Game one was back-and-forth with four lead changes over the last three innings. Lewis had the last rally with six runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 12-10 victory.

UIS had 20 hits in the contest, with one of the biggest being a two-run homer by
Zion Pettigrew in the top of the eighth that gave the Prairie Stars a 7-6 lead. UIS added one more run that inning and two in the ninth to take a 10-6 lead into the final half inning.

In the ninth, Lewis loaded the bases with no outs. A groundout scored one run, and a walk and hit batter scored another and loaded the bases once again. The Flyers' number nine hitter then hit a grand slam to end the game.

Brandon Bannon and
Zion Pettigrew both had four hits in the game. Bannon scored three times and drove in one, while Pettigrew had two runs and two RBI. Kal youngquist,
Chris Monroe, and
Nick Mayerhofer all had multiple hits and two RBI.

UIS trailed 3-2 after three innings in game two, but plated seven runs in the fourth inning for a 9-3 lead. The game will be finished on Sunday after it was called for darkness.

The Prairie Stars had three homers in the game from Pettigrew, Youngquist, and Monroe. Pettigrew and Youngquist both had three RBI, and Pettigrew had scored three of the team's runs.
