The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team won two games on Sunday afternoon in Romeoville, Ill. That helped the Prairie Stars win the Lewis series by a 3-1 margin.

Game three of the series was suspended on Saturday night and resumed on Sunday. UIS was up 9-3 to open the day, and Lewis got two runs back in the seventh inning. In the eighth, the Prairie Stars opened the inning with two singles and a walk.
Bobby Barnard then hit a grand slam to seal the 13-5 victory.

Barnard finished the game with two hits, two runs, and five RBI.
Zion Pettigrew and
Kal Youngquist also drove in three. Pettigrew scored three times, and
Austin Alderman and
Chris Mathieu had two runs apiece.

Mason Coon earned the win after pitching 2 2/3 innings of relief on Saturday. Ian Dellman finished the game by pitching the final two innings without allowing a base runner.

In game two, UIS jumped out to a 10-1 lead midway through the game, and then had to hang on for a 10-8 victory. Lewis scored five times in the ninth, and had the winning run at the plate before a strikeout ended the series.

The Prairie Stars got home runs from Pettigrew, Chris Monrore, and
Chris Mathieu. In his first start at UIS,
Tyler Acosta had two hits, three RBI, and a run. Pettigrew, Monroe, and Mathieu each scored twice, and Monroe and Mathieu had two runs apiece.

Clarke Davenport earned the win after going five innings in his first start of the year. He struck out five and allowed three runs. AJ Golembiewski pitched three innings of relief and allowed just two hits while striking out three.

UIS improves to 10-2 on the season and 6-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars stay on the road next weekend with a series at Truman State.
