Men's Soccer Starts Road Trip At No. 2 Indianapolis and Lewis

The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team starts a three-match road trip this weekend with a swing through Indianapolis and Lewis.
 
The Prairie Stars start the week with a 1-1-2 record on the season. UIS is coming off a 1-0 setback against Southern Indiana last Sunday.
 
UIS enters play this week as the No. 1 defense in the GLVC with a 0.22 GAA. The Prairie Stars have allowed just a single goal in 2021, and are tied for the league-high with three shutouts.
 
Goalie Pijus Petkevicius leads the conference with a 0.22 GAA, three shutouts, and a .900 save percentage. The defensive effort also includes Marvin Zott and Drew Keller who have both played all 400 minutes this season.

Indianapolis is one of two undefeated teams in the GLVC this season. It has won all three games against McKendree, Southern Indiana, and Lewis.
 
Indianapolis is putting the ball in the back of the net two times a game, and it has allowed two goals this season.
 
Cole Rainwater and Alejandro Steinwascher each have two goals this season, and Michael Tselios has a pair of assists. Dimitrios Karousos has a 0.67 GAA, and has made two saves in four shots on goal.
 
Last season, Indianapolis won a wild 2-1 game in Springfield, Ill. Neither team scored for the first 84 minutes, before three goals in a five-minute span, including the Greyhounds' game-winner with 1:04 remaining in the game.

Lewis enters play with a 1-3-0 mark on the season. Last weekend, it picked up a 2-1 win over Southern Indiana and lost 3-1 against Indianapolis.
 
Lewis has scored three goals in its four games, ranking eighth in the conference. The Flyers are 14th with a 1.75 GAA.
 
Domenic Baumann is the team leader with three points, with one goal and one assist. Will Maurice is the team's goalie, having a 1.75 GAA and a .667 save percentage.
 
Last year in Romeoville, Ill., Lewis defeated UIS by a 2-0 margin, despite the Prairie Stars outshooting Lewis in the contest.

UIS has a single game the following week, travelling to Quincy on March 21 for a 2:30 p.m. game.
