A pair of 10-0 runs by Quincy on Saturday were too much for the University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team to overcome. The Prairie Stars fell on the road to the Hawks by a 75-64 score.
Â
The first big run by Quincy came in the middle part of the first half. UIS led 8-7, but the Hawks got hot offensively, making back-to-back three-pointers to spark ten straight points. Two more three-pointers gave Quincy a 23-10 advantage at the 8:38 mark.
Â
UIS fought back and trailed by only five at halftime at 36-31. The Prairie Stars then came out of the locker room with a 15-7 run to take a 46-43 lead. After exchanging baskets, Quincy was able to turn the tables, and in less than three minutes it was up 55-48. UIS did not have another big run in it on this day, and the Hawks built a double-digit lead for much of the remainder of the game.
Â
UIS finished the game shooting just 40 percent from the field, including five-of-24 from three-point range. Quincy shot over 50 percent from the field, and outrebounded the Prairie Stars by 12 boards. UIS only turned the ball over eight times in the game, compared to 14 for the Hawks.

Keymonta Johnson had another double-double after having team-highs of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Jack Weber also had 14 points and led the team with three assists. Those two players combined to make 11-of-20 from the field, and Johnson was six-of-seven from the free-throw line.
