The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team went 0-2 in the first weekend of GLVC Pod Play. The Prairie Stars fell at TRAC to No. 25 Missouri S&T and Truman State on Saturday.

In the Missouri S&T match, UIS fell by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19. The Miners hit .245 and had 28 more kills in the match.

Megan Krasowski led UIS with five kills, two aces, and eight points. Other team leaders were
Becca Blakeley with nine assists,
Amanda McConnell with seven digs, and
Zanea Spencer with three blocks.

UIS's play improved against Truman State, but wasn't enough in a 25-19, 18-25, 25-21, and 25-17 setback. The Bulldogs hit .225 for the match, compared to .188 for UIS. Both teams had 81 digs in the four-set contest.

Spencer led the team with nine kills, one more than
Brianna Bush,
Hannah Nicolaisen, and Krasowski. Blakeley had a team-high 21 assists. Defensively,
Kenzie Hendon had 22 digs, McConnell had 21, and
Regan Trueblood collected 15 digs. Bush had a team-high three blocks against the Bulldogs.

UIS falls to 1-5 on the season. The Prairie Stars will be in action again on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the GLVC pod in Quincy, Ill. UIS will face Southwest Baptist and Quincy at that event.
