The University of Illinois Springfield track and field teams were in action on Friday at the Indianapolis Classic. The Prairie Stars won one event and had five other top-five finishes.

Gloria Esarco was the program's winner on the day as she captured the women's 800m race. She ran a time of 2:17.48, and won the 13-person field by nearly four seconds. Also in that race,
Libby Price finished fifth with a time of 2:26.87.

In the men's 800m,
Cayden Kirkham and
Jacob Landon were fourth and fifth, respectively. Kirkham had a time of 2:02.66, and Landon's mark was 2:03.44.

In the mile run, both
Ryan Jones and
Jade Anderson were runner-up in their respective races. Jones had a time of 4:28.58, and Anderson's time was 5:33.27.

The final event that UIS had competitors in was the women's shot put.
Ellie Shonkwiler had her top throw being marked at 8.38m, and Margaret George had a throw of 7.41m.

UIS will have its final meet of the regular season next weekend at the Indianapolis Last Chance Meet.
