The University of Illinois Springfield indoor track and field team travelled north on Friday for the Grand Valley State Big Meet. At the competition, Gloria Esarco became the latest member of the program to reach a NCAA Provisional Mark.
 
UIS had 12 competitors at the event, all competing in the 5,000m. Esarco recorded a time of 17:18.67, making a NCAA provisional mark by over seven seconds. She was 17th overall in the 70-person competition.
 
Also for the women, Savannah Brannan ran a time of 17:58, Alexa Thomsen finished in 18:28, Jade Anderson had a mark of 18:51, Lexi Throne had a time of 19:12, and Jordan Serrahn finished the race in 19:23.
 
On the men's side, Tyler Pasley paced the Prairie Stars with a time of 14:43.84. He finished in 24th-place out of 104 runners. Trevor Dunkel and Ryan Jones both had time of 15:21, Thomas Wuchte finished in 15:29, Ryan Stark had a mark of 15:33, and Isaiah McCune completed the race in 15:58.
 
UIS will be in action again next Friday and Saturday at the Indianapolis Classic in Indianapolis, Ind.
