The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team allowed just one field goal in the final six minutes of the game, which helped the Prairie Stars to a 68-65 win over Culver-Stockton on Thursday night at TRAC.

The second half was back-and-forth with neither team ever leading by more than five points. A three-pointer by Culver-Stockton with 3:55 remaining gave the Wildcats a 64-63 lead, but also marked their final made field goal of the game. The game was tied at 65 with 41 seconds remaining, when
Evan Altman was fouled. He sank both free throws to put UIS up for good. Culver-Stockton missed three three-pointers after that and the Prairie Stars won for the fourth time this season in six home games.

UIS outrebounded Culver-Stockton by a 37-28 margin, and had a big advantage getting to the free-throw line. The Prairie Stars made 21-of-30 free throws, compared to just six-of-nine for the Wildcats.

Altman and
Jack Weber both had double-doubles to lead the Prairie Stars. Altman had a season-best game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. He was 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Weber finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Jesus Castillo made four three-pointers and finished with 12 point.
Chase Robinson had team-highs with three assists and two steals.

UIS improves to 5-6 overall on the season. The Prairie Stars resume GLVC play on Sunday at Lewis.
