The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team hosts Missouri-St. Louis in a GLVC Tournament First-Round contest on Sunday. Kickoff is at noon at Kiwanis Stadium.

UIS enters the conference postseason tournament with an 11-4-1 overall record. It had its best GLVC finish this year by finishing second with a 10-2-1 mark. The Prairie Stars set records for their NCAA era for both its overall and conference record.

The Prairie Stars are the second seed in the GLVC Tournament, and they are making their fifth straight appearance in the event. UIS is still looking for its first conference tournament victory, with three of its four previous losses coming by just a single goal. UIS has hosted one GLVC tournament game in 2018, with the team losing 3-0 to McKendree. Last season, the team lost 1-0 in the first round to Indianapolis.

Besides a conference tournament championship, the men's soccer program is looking to solidify a possible bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Prairie Stars were ranked third in the first NCAA Super Regional rankings of the year. Ten teams from the region will make the NCAA Division II Tournament field in a few weeks.

UIS enters the postseason ranked seventh in the league with 1.62 goals per game. The team is fifth defensively, with a 0.99 GAA.

Conal Gallagher leads the team with five goals, including four game-winners.
Browel Some has four goals, and team-highs with four assists and 12 points.
Lars Brinkman also has four scores.

Missouri-St. Louis enters Sunday's match with an 8-7-1 overall record. The Tritons are the seventh seed in the conference tournament after compiling a 7-6-1 GLVC mark this season.

Missouri-St. Louis has one of the highest scoring teams in the GLVC with 1.75 goals on the year. Over the last eight games, it is scoring 2.4 times a game. It is eighth in the conference with a 1.57 GAA.

The duo of Arman Kovac and Garrett Bass have scored half of the team's 28 goals this year. Austin Reis has seen the most action in goal. He has a 1.33 GAA and a .755 save percentage.

Missouri-St. Louis has the all-time series lead over UIS, but it hasn't defeated the Prairie Stars since 2016. UIS is 3-0-2 against the Tritons in that span.

Earlier this season, UIS defeated Missouri-St. Louis by a 2-1 score. Missouri-St. Louis led 1-0 at halftime, but the Prairie Stars scored two goals in the final half by
Rory Carlson and
Lars Brinkman.
Browel Some assisted on both of those scores. The Prairie Stars outshot the Tritons 12-4 in the game, had five more corner kicks, and controlled possession for 58 percent of the time.

Ticket/Fan Information
Ticket prices for Sunday's game will be $5 for general admission tickets, and $3 for youths 12 and under. The first 100 UIS students will be admitted free with their I-Card.
Gates will open at 11 a.m. There will be no concessions available at the game.

The semifinals and finals of the GLVC Tournament will take place on Nov. 12 and Nov. 14 at the home of the highest remaining seed.
