For the second straight match, the University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team took one of the top teams in the GLVC to a fifth set. The final result was the same though as the Prairie Stars lost to Missouri S&T by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, and 15-10.

UIS dropped the first two sets, but battled back to force a fifth set. The Miners took the lead for good at 5-4, and then pulled away with a 7-3 run later in the game.

Serving was the biggest difference as Missouri S&T had 11 service aces, compared to two for the Prairie Stars. The Miners had a 79 percent sideout percentage or better in each of the sets they won, including 90 percent in the fifth set.

Ryleigh Warfel led the team with 17 kills.
Brianna Bush and
Megan Krasowski also had double-figures kills.
Regan Trueblood had 35 assists, and
Hannah Nicolaisen had a team-high five blocks.
Amanda McConnell led the team with 15 digs, followed by
Angela Denney with 13 and Krasowski with 12.

UIS falls to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars travel to William Jewell on Saturday for their next match.
