The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team lost a good chance to get three points on Sunday in Springfield. In a game affected by the weather, the Prairie Stars lost to Rockhurst by a 1-0 margin.
The start of the game and the location were both changed due to the weather. After kickoff at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, neither team scored in the first half. UIS had an 8-5 shot advantage in the period.
After a lengthy weather delay at halftime, the game was more even in the second half as both teams dealt with the wet field. UIS had a narrow 6-5 edge in shots, but the Hawks scored the only goal. It came late in the game on a header in the 86th minute.
UIS falls to 7-5-2 on the season, and 5-5-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars hit the road next Friday for a game at Missouri S&T.
