The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team defeated Southwest Baptist on Friday night at Kiwanis Stadium. The Prairie Stars earned a 2-1 win over the Bearcats on Senior Night.

Both teams scored in the first seven minutes of the game, with UIS's goal coming the sixth minute.
Brian Riordan stole a pass in the box and slipped a shot past the goalie. Neither team scored for the rest of the half, nor the first 20-plus minutes of the second half.

That streak ended in the 69th minute when
Conal Gallagher scored the game-winner with a shot from the end of the penalty box that found the right-hand corner.

UIS finished the game with a 19-3 edge in shots, including a 10-0 lead in the second half. The Prairie Stars had nine shots on goal, compared to two for Southwest Baptist.

Pijus Petkevicius made one save and earned the win in goal.
Lars Brinkman and Gallagher both had four shots and two shots on goal.

UIS improves to 9-3-1 overall, and 8-1-1 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are in action again on Sunday at home versus Rockhurst.
