Women's Soccer Continues Chase For GLVC Tournament Spot At Kiwanis

The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team has four games remaining in its regular season, including two at home this week. The Prairie Stars will take on Southwest Baptist on Friday, followed by a Sunday game against Rockhurst.
 
The Prairie Stars have a lot riding in their final four games, which they will enter with a 6-4-2 overall record and a 4-4-1 conference mark. UIS is currently hanging on to the final spot in the conference tournament, but four teams are right behind trying to jump into that position.
 
Last week, UIS had two road contests. The Prairie Stars tied William Jewell by a 2-2 score, and they fell to Truman State by a 2-1 margin.
 
Lauren Griffin had a pair of assists in the William Jewell contest, becoming the school's all-time assists leader. She now has 11 in her career, including three in the last three contests.
 
UIS is currently 3-1-0 on the year while playing in Springfield, Ill. The Prairie Stars have allowed just three goals in those four games.
 
Sierra Cenek is one of the hottest players in the GLVC. She has scored in each of her last three contests. Cenek is third in the GLVC with seven goals, which is the fifth-most in a season in UIS history. Allison Mirimanian is fourth in the league this week with nearly five saves per game in goal.

Southwest Baptist comes to Springfield with a 2-9-1 overall record, and a 2-8-0 conference mark. The Bearcats have lost five straight, including a 1-0 loss to Southern Indiana on Sunday.
 
Southwest Baptist has scored five times on the year, and it has allowed 22 goals. Opposing goalkeepers have a .918 save percentage versus the Bearcats.
 
Raegan Edwards and Maya Cofield each have two goals and one assist on the season. Alli Harrington has played 11 games in goal, and has a 1.73 GAA and .755 save percentage.
 
UIS has won both meetings against Southwest Baptist, including a 2-1 victory in the spring in Bolivar.

Rockhurst enters the week with a 4-8-2 overall record, and a 3-5-2 GLVC mark. The Hawks are coming into the game with some momentum after upsetting nationally-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday by a 1-0 margin.
 
The Hawks have scored eight goals this season, and rank 13th in the league in offense. Defensively, they are also 13th with a 1.56 GAA.
 
Olivia Schwarzen leads the team with three goals, and Alex Moss is the team leader with a pair of assists. Taylor James is the leading goalkeeper with a 1.23 GAA and a .776 save percentage.
 
Rockhurst has won three straight in the series, including a 2-0 victory in the spring. Each of those three victories were by shutout.
 
Up Next
UIS ends its regular season the following weekend with games at Missouri S&T and league leader Drury.
