The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team played nearly even with Truman State on Sunday in Kirksville, Mo., but the Bulldogs escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Prairie Stars.

UIS had one more total shot in the game at 9-8, and Truman had a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.

The one extra shot by Truman came in the 78th minute when the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty shot, and scored on the shot for the game-winning goal.

Before that, both teams had a first-half score. The Bulldogs scored first in the 4th minute, and UIS answered in the 22nd. The Prairie Stars goal was scored by
Sierra Cenek, with an assist from
Ally Lassetter.

Allison Mirimanian had four saves in the game. Cenek had a team-high two shots on goal, and was one of three players with two total shots.
Claire Sokol,
Megan Little, and
Angela Dagnino played all 90 minutes in the game.

UIS falls to 6-4-2 overall and 4-4-1 in conference action. The Prairie Stars next return home on Friday with a game against Southwest Baptist.
