The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team looks to stay near the top of the GLVC standings after two road contests in Missouri this week. The Prairie Stars will travel to William Jewell on Friday, followed by a trip to Truman State on Sunday.
 
UIS remains second in the GLVC according to teams' points per game totals. The Prairie Stars are averaging 2.29 points per game, just ahead of Maryville, Drury, and McKendree. Indianapolis currently leads the league with 2.71 points per game.
 
Overall on the season, UIS is currently 6-3-1, including a 5-1-1 record in GLVC games. In those seven conference contests, the Prairie Stars have allowed just five goals, and have a 0.69 GAA. Last time out, UIS tied Quincy by a 1-1 margin, despite outshooting the Hawks by a 25-11 margin.
 
Browel Some leads UIS with four assists, and he is a perfect three-for-three on penalty kicks. Lars Brinkman is the top goal scorer with four. Pijus Petkevicius has played every minute in goal this season. He needs just three saves to surpass 200 for his career.

William Jewell is currently 2-9-0 on the season, and 2-7-0 in GLVC play. The team has conference wins over Southwest Baptist and Southern Indiana, with that last result coming last Sunday on the road by a 2-1 score.
 
The Cardinals have 10 goals this year, but they have scored two goals in three out of their last four games. William Jewell has allowed 29 shots into the goal.
 
Mikhail McComie has three goals and three assists this season. He has currently scored one goal in each of the last three games, and assisted on the game-winner against Southern Indiana. Eli Gratz has been the team's top goalkeeper. He has a 2.26 GAA and a .758 save percentage.
 
UIS has won four straight over William Jewell, including three shutouts in a row. The two teams last met in 2019, with UIS winning 2-0 in Liberty, Mo.

Truman State enters play this week with an 0-11-0 record, including a 0-9-0 conference mark. Last week, the Bulldogs lost 1-0 to Lewis, and 2-0 at Indianapolis.
 
Truman State has allowed two or fewer goals in every NCAA game this season. The Bulldogs have scored just twice though on the year.
 
Justin Olwig is the team's top goalkeeper. He has a 1.39 GAA and a .721 save percentage. Sam Newton and Collin McDonough have scored goals this year for the Bulldogs.
 
UIS has won four straight in the series with Truman State, and is averaging nearly four goals a game in that span. In the last meeting, in 2019, UIS won 5-1 in Springfield, Ill.
