Volleyball Has Best Set Of Season In Win Over Quincy

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team extended its winning streak to three on Friday night at TRAC. The Prairie Stars defeated Quincy by scores of 25-23, 25-11, 17-25, and 25-21.
 
UIS narrowly won the first set, and then had its best set of the 2021 season. The Prairie Stars trailed 4-1 early, but went on a 15-1 run. Hannah Nicolaisen and Megan Krasowski were the team's servers during that run which included four kills, three service aces, and four blocks. UIS hit .346 for the set, and held Quincy with more errors than kills.
 
Quincy used a large run at the start of the third set to force a fourth set. In the fourth, UIS jumped out to a 6-1 advantage, and never trailed the rest of the match.
 
UIS finished the match hitting .160, and it held Quincy to a .120 mark. UIS had four more blocks and two more service aces in the game.
 
Hannah Nicolaisen led the offense with 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage. Ryleigh Warfell finished with 11 kills, and Becca Blakeley had 37 assists. Amanda McConnell led the defense with 24 digs, and Bush and Nicolaisen both had team-high five blocks. Megan Krasowski also finished with double-figure dig totals.
 
UIS improves to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action. The Prairie Stars continue Homecoming Weekend tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m. match against Maryville.
